π vs τ
March 15, 2011 § 3 Comments
Yesterday was π day. And we missed it because we are not Americans. Meaning that we don’t mark the day as 3.14 but as 14.3. Anyway, I realized that it doesn’t matter. Because there is a plan to dethrone π and install a new king, τ (or tau).
Tau is 2pi and it simplifies and beautifies equations. That’s what the people behind the tau manifesto claim. Still, celebrate half tau day, planning to break the system from within. And if the tau manifesto is too mathematical for you, this video will help clarify things. At least if features not one, but two delicious pies.
